Springfield is nine hours from Milwaukee, so it is a fly-in or a two-day drive, and usually worth pairing with Branson forty minutes south to make the trip carry two dates. It is the commercial centre for southwest Missouri and a genuine regional hub rather than a large town.

The church market here is one of the strongest in the country. Springfield is the headquarters of the Assemblies of God, and the density of large congregations and denominational events makes the gospel programme an obvious fit. Bass Pro Shops anchors the corporate side along with healthcare, and the University Plaza and the Expo Center take conventions. Missouri State adds academic and donor events.
