Detroit and the surrounding suburbs are a reasonable drive around the lake, and a market with plenty of corporate volume. Four and a half hours means I can arrive the afternoon of the event rather than the night before, which keeps a weeknight date straightforward. Most of the work sits north and west of the city, where the headquarters and supplier offices are.
