What gets booked in Kansas City

Most of the work here is corporate hospitality and convention receptions: engineering and architecture firms, agricultural and animal-health companies, telecom, and the national associations that meet downtown or across the line in Overland Park. Trade show floors are their own problem: the job is to pull people out of the aisle and hold them at the booth long enough to be qualified. Private celebrations fill in around that. Two metro areas in two states means one guest list often spans both.
