Magician in New York City
The most competitive magic market in the country, and mostly a corporate booking
New York is the most competitive entertainment market in the country. There are more full-time magicians working here than anywhere else, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. If what you want is a theatre show, the city already has residencies and rooms built for exactly that.
What people fly me in for is different: a corporate event, a client dinner, a private party, a night where the entertainment has to work in a loud room with people standing up. Travel is either built into the package or itemised on your quote, agreed before anything is booked.
What gets booked in New York City
Finance, law, media and advertising do most of the booking, and the calendar bends around them. December is effectively gone by late summer — holiday parties are the biggest ask here and the earliest to sell out. Sales kickoffs land in January, and client hospitality runs the whole year.
Venues split three ways: hotel ballrooms for the large corporate nights, private clubs and townhouses for smaller dinners, and loft or rooftop spaces when someone wants the evening to look nothing like an office. Javits trade shows are their own thing again — that work gets booked by marketing teams, not event planners.
Getting there
A fly-in date from Milwaukee. Flights and time on the ground are either built into the package or shown as a separate line on your quote, agreed before anything is booked — never added afterwards.
