Fly-in work in the city, and three upstate markets that book on their own terms
New York is almost always a flight. Twelve hours of driving to reach the eastern end of the state is rarely worth it, so I fly in, travel light and plan the date around the airport that actually serves your venue.
It also helps to be clear that New York is not one market. Manhattan behaves nothing like Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse or the Hudson Valley, and the planning is different in each. Travel costs are either built into the package or itemised on the quote, agreed before anything is booked.
What I get booked for in New York
Downstate work is finance, law, media, advertising and pharma, plus the hotel and Javits-driven convention trade. Those rooms are busy and short on stage time, which is why strolling magic tends to fit better than a scheduled slot.
Upstate is a different business. Albany runs on state government and association meetings, Rochester and Buffalo on health systems, higher education and manufacturing, and the Hudson Valley on weddings and private celebrations at estates and barns. Budgets are more modest than the city's, but the events are often larger relative to the organisation booking them.
Travel
Roughly 12 hours by road from Milwaukee. That is normally still a drive rather than a flight, which means the full show travels with me, and travel is either built into the package or itemised on your quote, agreed before anything is booked.
