Magician in Baltimore

Hopkins, the harbour and the defence corridor — three calendars that rarely overlap

Baltimore is a fly-in, and an easy one. BWI is well connected and I can be set up downtown within a couple of hours of landing. Travel costs are either built into the package or itemised on your quote, agreed before anything is booked.

The work splits between downtown convention and corporate events and private parties out in Towson, Columbia and the county.

What gets booked in Baltimore

Baltimore's economy is hospitals, universities and defence, and the events follow. Johns Hopkins and the university systems run symposia, donor evenings and departmental celebrations. The cybersecurity and contracting firms strung along the corridor toward Fort Meade do client hospitality that has to work in a suite rather than a ballroom.

The Baltimore Convention Center and the Inner Harbor hotels carry the association business, a good share of it spillover from Washington. Preakness week in May and the run of holiday parties from late November are the two dependable peaks.

A fly-in date from Milwaukee. Flights and time on the ground are either built into the package or shown as a separate line on your quote, agreed before anything is booked — never added afterwards.
