Mentalism
The Mystic Clock
Think of any hour on a 12-hour dial. As I tap around the circle, count silently up to twenty, and my finger will stop precisely on your card.
Twelve playing cards arranged in a circle, like the hours on a clock face.
Choose an hour in your mind (say, 4 o'clock, 8 o'clock, or any hour you like) and keep it completely secret.
I will begin tapping cards around the dial. Every time I tap, you silently add one to your mental count. When your count reaches twenty, hit STOP and watch where my pointer lands.
You chose any hour you wanted. You never typed it into a box. You never clicked on it. You only counted in your own head, yet the rhythm and geometry forced the pointer to land squarely on your card on the twentieth count.
In live mentalism, I use principles like this to make predictions across a room full of people without ever touching them. It feels like impossible luck, until you realize the trap was set before we even began.
How it works
This is the classic 20-tap clock force. For the first seven taps, the performer taps any random cards on the dial. But starting on tap eight, the performer taps 12 o'clock, then moves strictly counter-clockwise: 11, 10, 9, 8... Because (20 - 7) = 13, and 13 - N going backwards from 12 always lands on N! Pure mathematical elegance disguised as telepathic intuition.
