District of Columbia
Magician in District of Columbia
The association capital, where the audience usually flew in for the week
Washington is a fly-in and one of the easier markets to schedule around, because so much of what happens there is planned a year ahead. Annual meetings, member fly-ins and awards dinners get their dates locked early, which suits how I book. I can come into any of the three airports, and the setup is small enough to move between hotels in a day.
Travel is either built into the package or itemised on your quote, and agreed before anything is booked.
What I get booked for in District of Columbia
More trade associations, professional societies and nonprofits are headquartered here than anywhere else, and their annual meetings, receptions and donor events are the backbone of the market. Government contractors and consultancies out in Northern Virginia and the Maryland suburbs run their own client and holiday events, and the law firms do a lot of quiet private hosting.
One thing worth saying plainly: rooms here are politically mixed by default, often on purpose. I keep the material out of that entirely.
Travel
A fly-in date from Milwaukee. Flights and time on the ground are either built into the package or shown as a separate line on your quote, agreed before anything is booked — never added afterwards.
Where the people are
District of Columbia’s biggest cities
Most of District of Columbia’s population lives in and around these five cities, and that is where most of the events are. Caleb performs in all of them — and in the smaller towns between them.
Largest market: Washington metro.
